Documents and Visa Types
Follow these steps in order to apply for a Schengen visa or a national visa. A Schengen visa allows a maximum stay of 90 days within a period of 180 days in the Schengen countries. Germany must be your main travel destination.A national visa is necessary if your stay in Germany is more than 90 days.
You can apply for a Schengen visa up to 6 months and for a national visa up to 3 months before your actual travel date.Select the purpose of your stay in Germany. Click on the purpose to download the required documents.
Prepare the documents below carefully
Below you find the list of documents which you need to submit with your visa application based on your travel purpose. Please read and prepare the documents carefully. Always choose the correct travel purpose. Incomplete applications can’t be accepted.
The passport photo must match the personal photo, for example, and not as a limitation, if a child has a passport when he/she was 10 months old and now he/she is 4 years old, you must issue a new passport for your child before applying for a visa.
If you want to travel to Germany for touristic purposes but you book an appointment for another travel purpose (business, medical, family/friend visit) your visa application won't be accepted in the office and in this case, the TLScontact service fees won't be reimbursed.
If you have the "Egyptian Pool For Travel Insurance" sticker on your passport, please print it from here before your appointment date.
Important – new rule for employment visa starting from the 5th of June 2023:You don’t need to legalize your university degree(s) if you apply for an employment visa!We only need the original university degree plus a copy with a certified translation.The new rule only for highly skilled workers with university degree, Blue Card EU, scientists with hosting agreement)
⚠ IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Effective from 20 November 2024
You must now follow the new CSP process when applying for:
- Long-stay visas for highly qualified employees with a university degree, including the EU Blue Card and skilled workers
- Family reunion visas submitted together with a long-stay employment application

Fast-track procedure for skilled workers (Section 81a)
If your future employer in Germany is using the fast-track procedure for skilled workers (Section 81a of the Residence Act) and you have received pre-approval from the German foreigners authority, you may book an earlier visa appointment.
When booking your appointment, you must indicate that you have obtained this pre-approval.
