Limited resumption of German visa application services in Iran from May 31 2026

Starting Sunday, May 31 2026, our German visa application centre will resume operations with limited capacity for applicants:
- who were registered on our waiting list by January 18; OR
- whose appointments had to be cancelled due to the German Embassy closure after January 15; OR
- who were not able to attend their scheduled appointment due to the internet blackout between January 1st and January 15.
AND who are applying for an employment visa with pre-approval from the Foreigners Authority (Ausländerbehörde) in accordance with § 81a AufenthG (beschleunigtes Fachkräfteverfahren), including accompanying family members (spouse and minor children).
Applicants will be contacted by phone according to their position on the existing waiting list to confirm continued interest and document requirements. Depending on document status:
- Valid pre-approval and current employment contract: application submission and appointment scheduling.
- Pre-approval but incomplete/outdated documents: one additional month to update documents and priority placement. If incomplete after follow-up, re-registration on the waiting list will be required.
- No pre-approval in accordance with §81a AufenthG: remain on the waiting list until additional visa categories are accepted.
Applicants required to submit a language certificate will be accepted even if the certificate is older than one year. Documents requiring legalisation must comply with the current checklists (primarily for family members). All other documents must be submitted in accordance with the standard checklist .

If approved, applicants might be required to physically travel to a German mission in a neighbouring country for visa vignette affixing.
