A Schengen visa allows a maximum stay of 90 days within a period of 180 days in the Schengen countries. Germany must be your main travel destination.

British citizens do not require a visa for the European Union Schengen Member States if the duration of their stay does not exceed 90 days within any 180-day period. Please note that you may not pursue any economic activity in Germany unless such activity is explicitly authorized by a visa or a residence permit issued in Germany.
Processing times:The processing time for a Schengen visa is approximately 15 working days from the date the application is received by the Embassy. A further 2-3 working days should be allowed for the return of your passport. Please, arrange your appointment to submit your application as early as possible.
Processing time for D visas vary greatly from about 2 weeks for some categories of employment visas to up to six months for self-employed professionals. Please, ensure that you submit your application well in advance.
You may apply up to six months before the start of the intended visit.
