Visa information

Documents and Visa Types

Germany or Estonia must be your main travel destination.

A Schengen visa allows a maximum stay of 90 days within a period of 180 days in the Schengen countries.

Please prepare the documents below carefully

Please note: The visa section of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Uganda takes fingerprints (10 fingers) of third-country nationals, from the age of 12 unless it is physically impossible to take the fingerprints. All applicants must provide a digital photo.

Fingerprint exemption: As a general rule, all applicants are required to provide their biometric data (fingerprints and photograph); only applicants belonging to one of the following categories are exempt:

  • Children strictly under 12 years old;
  • Applicants who are physically unable to give their fingerprints (amputations, injuries).

However, if the fingerprinting is possible for at least one finger, the applicant must go through the biometrics step. In the case of a temporary disability (bandage, plaster, etc.), the applicant must still appear in person in order to give as many impressions as possible. He must also present himself in person during the next visa application if only part of the fingerprints could be taken.

  • Schengen visa applicants who have already obtained a Schengen visa issued during the previous 59 months and marked "VIS". It is compulsory to provide the photocopy of the visa sticker.

In any case, it is still possible that the consular authority may require the fingerprinting to be redone.

NB: If the mention "VIS 0" is indicated on the last Schengen visa sticker of the applicant, the applicant must come in person to submit their biometric data, the mention "VIS 0" confirming the collection of alphanumeric data but not fingerprints digital.
